Building a Community of Service
Volunteers at FSC are dedicated to building a community of mutual support and service. Striking a balance between giving and receiving is key, not only to personal happiness, but to community health as well. Thankfully, FSC has an amazing number of individuals who are ready and willing to give their time for the benefit of our Church community. But, of course, they cannot do this alone. They need a network of supporters and fellow volunteers to lean back on when times get too tough and tasks too heavy.
Stop by to check out our new Volunteer Station opposite the Church Office by the stairway - very cool! Wired lockers for your valuables, check-in and check-out station, continued updated information, and more.
Returning Volunteers - be sure to complete a 2014 Volunteer Registration Form by checking the "returning" box and noting any changes and what you are planning to get involved in this year, and we'll get your volunteer badges ready A.S.A.P.!
We Need You
There are so many ways to get plugged into the FSC community! If you are looking for further involvement, we have a few groups in need of new volunteers. Contact Jennifer Kinne if you find any of these opportunities compelling:
Social Work Assistant - Want to "Change the World?" FSC's Social Work Assistant will be helping our Social Worker, Lisa Nadziejka, with the influx of requests made through our Financial Assistance Line. Basic responsibilities include:
- Listening to and recording help requests that are left with our Financial Assistance extension.
- Performing necessary follow-up with clients regarding missing information in their requests.
- Promptly communicating new requests to the Case Workers at ACCESS of West Michigan.
Training will begin in late January. A full job description can be found at the Information Table and Volunteer Station.
Districts - Districts bring FSC's Ministries into their communities. You belong to a District based on where you live. District Leaders are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to help organize, participate in, and/or support social activities and Service Projects.
Greeters - We want everyone to feel welcome at FSC on Sunday mornings. Greeters are the first people you see upon walking in the door, and they are leaned on as resources for members and visitors with questions about FSC. We are in need of some friendly volunteers who are willing to greet on Sundays.
Volunteer Management Team - Coordinating and supporting volunteers is a tough job here at FSC. With the number of volunteers coming in each day at FSC, we are in need of more members for the Volunteer Management Team. As a member of this team, you would assist the Volunteer Ministries Coordinator with communicating and supporting FSC volunteers. From event planning to article writing, this is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that offers flexibility and a chance to use your creativity!
